Hindutva groups storm school in Madhya Pradesh over English language rule
Bhopal:: Members of Hindutva groups stormed a school in Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP)-ruled Madhya Pradesh, protesting a rule promoting the use of English.
According to Kashmir Media Service, the incident involved men from groups like the Akhil Bharatiya Vidyarthi Parishad (ABVP) entering the school premises, raising slogans after misconstruing the rule as a ban on speaking Hindi. As per reports, the protesters tried to force entry by attempting to open doors and scaling walls.
The police have booked the school’s principal, Sister Catherine.
The protestors demanded the expulsion of the principal and the inclusion of a daily recitation of a shloka in the assembly prayers, despite the principal’s clarification and apology.
