Indian-origin man charged with stealing $1 million lottery ticket in US

New York: An Indian-origin man has been charged with stealing a $1 million-winning lottery ticket from a customer at a petrol station in Murfreesboro, in the US state of Tennessee, where he was employed.

According to Kashmir Media Service, the Indian origin man identified as Meer Patel, 23, was arrested following an investigation by local authorities.

The theft occurred when a customer purchased a lottery ticket and asked Patel to check if it was a winner by scanning it. Patel reportedly told the customer that the ticket had only won a small amount, paid out the lower prize, and then discarded the ticket in the trash.
