Fake Indian cricket league created for online betting
Delhi: A fake cricket tournament was staged in Molipur, a village in Gujarat, India, in June 2022, with manipulated outcomes to facilitate online betting on the platform 1xBet.
According to Kashmir Media Service, the tournament, organized by Soyab Davda, a local farmer, and Ashok Chaudhary, an Ayurvedic medicine importer, involved amateur players and umpires who were instructed to influence the game’s outcome.
The operation was linked to a Russian gang and was busted by police, who arrested several individuals involved. The case highlights the growing issue of fake cricket leagues and online betting, with millions of dollars wagered on such events.
