Pakistan to write letter to UN regarding threats to Yasin Malik: Amir Muqam
Islamabad: Federal Minister for Kashmir Affairs, Northern Areas, and Gilgit-Baltistan, Engineer Amir Maqam has said that Pakistan will write a letter to the United Nations regarding the severe threats faced by illegally detained Jammu and Kashmir Liberation Front Chairman Muhammad Yasin Malik and other leaders.
According to Kashmir Media Service, Amir Maqam in a statement in Islamabad expressed deep concern over reports of the deteriorating health of Yasin Malik, languishing in notoriou Tihar jail for the past several years.
He lamented that the Indian government, by denying medical facilities to imprisoned Kashmiri leaders, was following a nefarious strategy to eliminate them.
The Federal Minister stated that the global community, the UN Secretary General, and the international organizations would be informed through a letter about the dire health condition of Yasin Malik and other imprisoned Kashmiri leaders.
He said in the past, several Kashmiri leaders have been martyred in Indian jails. Even during the COVID-19, Kashmiri detainees in occupied Jammu and Kashmir and Indian jails were deprived of medical facilities, he deplored.
He said Yasin Malik, who is imprisoned in Tihar Jail under false charges, should be provided with the best medical care.
Amir Maqam called upon the world community and international human rights organizations to pay immediate attention to the severe threats to the health and safety of Yasin Malik and other Kashmiri leaders.
