Indian army’s Assam Rifles man commits suicide in Manipur
Imphal: A soldier of the Indian Army’s Assam Rifles committed suicide in violence-hit Manipur state.
According to Kashmir Media Service, the deceased, identified as 57-year-old Gunanand Chaube, ended his life at the Company Operating Base (COB) of Alpha Company, located in the Motbung area of Kangpokpi district.
According to official sources, Chaube used his service rifle to shoot himself within the confines of the base.
The motive behind this act remains unclear, as no suicide note was found at the scene. Local authorities have registered a case and are investigating the circumstances surrounding the incident.
This tragedy unfolds amidst ongoing turmoil in Manipur, further highlighting the psychological toll of the conflict on Indian forces’ personnel deployed in the region.
