Restrictions tightened in Doda and Kishtwar districts ahead of sham polls
Jammu: Restrictions have been further tightened following the issuance of a notification regarding the first phase of so-called elections for occupied Jammu and Kashmir assembly slated for September 18 in six constituencies of Doda and Kishtwar districts.
According to Kashmir Media Service, additional deployment of personnel of Indian army, police, and paramilitary forces has been made across the two districts.
The restrictions in the name of heightened security measures have created a tense atmosphere in the territory, raising concerns among locals about their freedom and safety.
The Kashmiri people have rejected the upcoming elections in the disputed territory and instead are demanding the right to self-determination, as acknowledged by the United Nations Security Council.
