UAPA Tribunal upholds ban on IIOJK Jamaat-e-Islami
Srinagar: The Unlawful Activities (Prevention) Tribunal on Friday upheld the orders passed by the Indian Ministry of Home Affairs banning Jamaat-e-Islami of Indian illegally occupied Jammu and Kashmir (IIOJK) under the Unlawful Activities (Prevention) Act (UAPA).
According to Kashmir Media Service, the tribunal upheld the Indian government’s ban on the outfit and extended it to continue to hold force for next five years.
Earlier, Jamaat was banned on February 28, 2019 for a period of five years which was subsequently extended on February 28, 2024 for a further five years period.
