2 Indian women dead in landslide in Reasi

Gusty winds, heavy rain cause huge damage in Kulgam

Jammu: Two Indian women pilgrims died and a girl was grievously injured in a landslide in Reasi district of Indian illegally occupied Jammu and Kashmir.

According to Kashmir Media Service, the incident took place near Panchi area of the district. The landslide hit the new track to the Vaishno Devi shrine near Panchi in which one portion of an overhead iron structure was also damaged, the officials said.

The Indian pilgrims were trapped under the iron structure following the landslide, they said. In the tragic incident, two women pilgrims died on the spot while a minor girl sustained injuries, officials stated.
The deceased women were identified as Neha, 21, of Kanpur, Uttar Pradesh and Sapna, 25, of Dhianpur in Gurdaspur, Punjab of India.

Meanwhile, gusty winds, accompanied by heavy rain, caused huge damage to several residential houses, buildings and several vehicles in south Kashmir’s Kulgam village, officials said.K
