Various programs held across AJK to commemorate Defence Day
Muzaffarabad: Azad Jammu and Kashmir (AJK) was abuzz with commemorative events today as the region marked Pakistan’s Defence Day with a series of activities reflecting deep patriotism and solidarity.
According to Kashmir Media Service, the Pasban-e-Hurriyat Jammu and Kashmir held a rally in Muzaffarabad to honor the martyrs of the 1965 war. A large crowd gathered, displaying banners with slogans like “Pakistan say Rishta Kia …La ilaha Illallah” and “Pakistan Zindabad,” while chanting in support of Islam, Pakistan, and the freedom of occupied Jammu and Kashmir.
Led by Pasban-e-Hurriyat Chairman Uzair Ahmed Ghazali and other leaders, the event paid tribute to the 1965 martyrs and praised the Pakistan Armed Forces for their role in the conflict. Speakers emphasized Pakistan’s resilience against Indian aggression and affirmed the country’s enduring sovereignty. The rally concluded with a march from the Central Press Club to Burhan Wani Shaheed Chowk, reinforcing support for Pakistan’s development and stability.
Also, a flag hoisting ceremony was held at the Manikpiyan refugee camp in Muzaffarabad to celebrate Pakistan’s Defence Day. The event drew a large crowd of refugees, including many youths and children. Prominent Hurriyat leader Chaudhry Shaheen Iqbal and others attended the ceremony. Speakers honored the martyrs of September 6, highlighting their faith, courage, and the steadfast defense of Pakistan. They commended the Pakistani armed forces for their unwavering commitment and prayed for the country’s continued security and development. They also prayed for Pakistan’s security, development, and stability, expressing optimism that occupied Jammu and Kashmir will soon get freedom from Indian yoke and join Pakistan.
Additionally in Muzaffarabad, the Department of International Relations at the University of AJK hosted an inter-university speech competition titled “From Karachi to Kashmir, Pakistan Army – A Binding Force.” Students from various universities across AJK participated, delivering passionate speeches that underscored the pivotal role of the Pakistan Army in defending AJK against Indian aggression. The speeches highlighted the army’s dedication and sacrifices, evoking a strong sense of national pride.
A panel of judges awarded three winners with cash prizes and certificates. The event concluded with a strong sense of patriotism and appreciation for the Pakistan Army’s contributions to regional security. The competition underscored the unity and solidarity among AJK’s youth in recognizing the importance of the Pakistan Army in safeguarding their territory.
In Bagh, the Jammu Kashmir Pir Panjal Freedom Movement held a ceremony at the Mang Bajri refugee camp to mark the Pakistan Defence Day. Chaudhry Nazir Hussain, President of the Jammu Kashmir Pir Panjal Freedom Movement, District Bagh, and Chaudhry Mukhtar, Senior Patron, led the event. Speakers paid tribute to the martyrs of September 6, 1965, and reiterated their commitment to continue the struggle for freedom from Indian occupation. The ceremony featured addresses by prominent leaders including Chaudhry Mukhtar, Chaudhry Bashir Ahmed Naz, Chaudhry Tahir Imran Akbar, and others, who honored the sacrifices made for the defense of the country.
In Rawalakote, the Liberation Cell Kashmir Centre also organized a significant function in honor of Defence Day. Speakers at the event praised the Pakistan Army for its supreme sacrifices in defending the country’s geographical frontiers. They emphasized the army’s unprecedented efforts in protecting AJK and the nation as a whole, affirming their confidence in the Pakistan Armed Forces’ ability to counter any aggression.
A rally was organized at Mankpiyan refugee camp in Muzaffarabad by Refugees Jammu and Kashmir to pay homage to the armed forces, martyrs and people of Pakistan.
A large number of refugees participated in the rally. People of Jammu and Kashmir Refugees Care Council also participated as a representation from the city.
Addressing the rally, the speakers said the people of Kashmir pay tribute to the martyrs of September 6, 1965 for their undying resistance. The day of September 6 was the practical defeat of Hinduism in South Asia. They said that the three branches of the armed forces of Pakistan, Army, Navy and Air Force, not only foiled the Indian attack but also defeated the Indian army.
