JIH demands action against anti-Muslim activities, hateful statements in India

New Delhi: Jamaat-e-Islami Hind has demanded strict action against hate crimes and illegal bulldozer operations against Muslims in India.

According to Kashmir Media Service, Jamaat-e-Islami Hind Vice Amir Professor Saleem Engineer and Central Secretary Shafi Madani addressing a press conference in New Delhi said hate crimes have increased in the country and some elements deliberately target Muslims so that unrest can spread in the country.

They lamented that anti-social elements were fearlessly committing crimes with the support of police and political patrons and had no fear of court or arrest.

Prof. Saleem mentioned the demolition of properties, saying the houses of religious minorities, especially Muslims, are being targeted and the practice is illegal.

He appreciated the steps taken by the Indian Supreme Court to stop this illegal practice and expressed hope that the Supreme Court will also deliver guidelines on this issue across the country.

Shafi Madani, while discussing the situation in Assam, said 28 Muslims speaking Bengali language have been declared foreigners and sent to detention camps, which is a violation of their fundamental rights.

He said this decision clearly shows that Muslims, especially Bengali Muslims, have been illegally targeted.

Jamaat-e-Islami Hind has demanded their immediate release and suspension of the tribunal’s verdict and expressed full solidarity with the victims.
