Owaisi slams UP govt over lynching of Muslim man, demands justice
New Delhi: All India Majlis-e-Ittehadul Muslimeen (AIMIM) president Asaduddin Owaisi condemned the Uttar Pradesh government following the lynching of a Muslim man, Mohammad Shahideen Qureshi, in Moradabad over allegations of cow slaughter.
According to Kashmir Media Service, “Killing a person is still a crime in India, even if the person is Muslim, and Uttar Pradesh is still a part of India,” Owaisi remarked.
He called on the police to uphold justice, accusing them of acting as “cow protectors” instead of law enforcers.
The incident occurred on December 31 when Qureshi was attacked by a mob. A viral video showed him severely injured, lying in a pool of blood.
While police arrested the victim’s friend on charges of cow slaughter, the assailants remain free. Owaisi urged authorities to take swift action against mob violence.
