Gupta criticizes BJP for betraying public trust
Jammu: National Conference leader Rattan Lal Gupta has strongly criticized the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) for betraying the public trust by not fulfilling the aspirations of the people of occupied Jammu and Kashmir over the past decade.
According to Kashmir Media Service, Rattan Lal Gupta speaking to a party meeting in Jammu asserted that despite ruling India for 10 years, the BJP has done nothing remarkable for Jammu and Kashmir, apart from stripping away the rights of its citizens, most notably through the abrogation of Article 370.
He said the BJP has miserably failed to come up to the expectations of the people of Kashmir. Instead of delivering on its promises, it has only taken away the special status that J&K enjoyed under the Indian Constitution, he lamented. The abrogation of Article 370, division of J&K into two parts Ladakh and J&K and snatching of Statehood of J&K into union territories was a direct attack on the dignity and identity of the people of the territory region, he added.
Referring to the recently launched BJP manifesto for the upcoming Assembly polls in J&K, Rattan Lal Gupta said the saffron party is misleading the public yet again. He pointed out that the manifesto lacks any fresh ideas or initiatives for the people of Jammu and Kashmir, and instead, appears to have copied key elements from the vision and promises laid out by the National Conference.
Rattan Lal Gupta reaffirmed the National Conference’s commitment to safeguarding the interests of the people of Jammu and Kashmir and restoring the special status of the region.
