UP police kill Yadav man in fake encounter

BJP govt targeting Yadavs and Muslims, says opposition

New Delhi: The Uttar Pradesh police’s Special Task Force killed Mangesh Yadav, a 25-year-old man from the Yadav community, in an “encounter”.

According to Kashmir Media Service, the opposition has blamed the police for targeting Yadav’s and Muslims, and of staging a “fake encounter”.

Mangesh was picked up by police on September 3 and held in custody for two days before being killed. His family said that he was shot in cold blood and that the police fabricated the encounter story.

The police claim that Mangesh was involved in a dacoity case and was killed in self-defense. However, the opposition has pointed out that other accused persons in the case, who belong to dominant caste groups, were allowed to surrender or were shot in the leg, while Mangesh was killed.

The incident has sparked outrage and accusations of caste bias against the UP police. The Samajwadi Party has demanded action against the police and has accused the BJP government of targeting Yadavs and Muslims.
