Kashmir Trade Alliance rejects rotational market closure directive in IIOJK
Srinagar: The Kashmir Trade Alliance (KTA) has expressed strong opposition to a recent directive issued by the occupation authorities, which requires markets to observe a rotational weekly closure in Indian illegallyoccupied Jammu and kashmir.
According to Kashmir Media Service, the directive issued by the Labour Departmen thas caused concern among the business community in the territory.
A delegation from KTA, led by President Aijaz Shahdhar, met with Deputy Labour Commissioner Ideel Saleem to discuss the issue. The delegation argued that the rotation-wise closure would create confusion among consumers and traders, leading to disruptions in the smooth functioning of markets.
Shahdhar emphasized that the business community is already suffering. He suggested that markets should observe a uniform close day on Sunday, an internationally recognized holiday.
Deputy Labour Commissioner Ideel Saleem stated that, according to existing regulations, markets can choose to observe a weekly close day on either Friday or Sunday.
The KTA delegation reiterated their rejection of the rotational closure directive, citing its potential to harm trade and business activities in the territory. The meeting concluded with no resolution, leaving the fate of the directive uncertain.
