Islamabad: India’s heavy-handed tactics in Indian illegally occupied Jammu and Kashmir reveal the truth behind its democratic façade.
A report released by Kashmir Media Service on the International Day of Democracy, today, said India has proved itself a fake democracy by crushing Kashmiris’ right to self-determination with its military might.
It said India’s suppression of Kashmiri aspirations exposes the hollow claims of its democratic values. The plight of Kashmiris under Indian military occupation highlights the failure of India’s democratic ideals, it added.
It said India’s denial of Kashmiri self-determination is a glaring contradiction to its self-proclaimed democratic status. It said the death of India’s so-called democracy is daily witnessed in the killing fields of occupied Jammu and Kashmir.
The report said the systematic oppression in the occupied territory lays bare the illusion of India’s democratic credentials. The continuous suffering of Kashmiris under Indian occupation calls into question the legitimacy of India’s democratic claims, it maintained.
It said the world must recognize the contradiction between India’s democratic rhetoric and its oppressive actions in occupied Jammu and Kashmir.
It is time for global justice advocates to challenge India’s facade and support the Kashmiri struggle for freedom, the report said, adding it is time to recognize the reality of Modi’s India – fascist Hindu fundamentalist state.
