IIOJK needs ‘actual peace’, not silence, says Kanhaiya Kumar

Srinagar: Kanhaiya Kumar, a politician affiliated with the Indian Congress and former student union leader, stated that Indian illegally occupied Jammu and Kashmir (IIOJK) needs “actual peace”, not just silence.

Accompanying Congress IIOJK General Secretary Ghulam Ahmad Mir during his visit to Islamabad district, Kumar distinguished between silence and peace, emphasizing that the current silence in IIOJK is distinct from actual peace.

Kumar also addressed the widespread anger against oppression in IIOJK over the last decade. He criticized the ruling BJP for harboring “ill intentions” and framed the upcoming election as a battle between two ideologies: love versus hate, and justice versus injustice.

“Our understanding is that this time, the voting will be against oppression, unemployment, the injustices done to the people of Jammu and Kashmir and to get back their right to statehood,” he said.

“This fight is between love and hate, between justice and injustice. It is a fight for giving back the people of Jammu and Kashmir their rights, which were snatched from them. People here have understood that they must not allow a division of votes,” he said.

The IIOJK Assembly elections are scheduled to take place in three phases on September 18, 25, and October 1, with counting on October 8.
