Mehbooba stresses need to address Kashmir issue, protect Article 370
Srinagar: People’s Democratic Party (PDP) president Mehbooba Mufti has emphasized the need to address the Kashmir issue and protect Article 370.
According to Kashmir Media Service, in a statement issued in Srinagar, Mehbooba Mufti said, “The BJP wants to suppress the Kashmir issue, but we are adamant that its resolution is crucial.” She added that her party is contesting the IIOJK assembly elections to prevent the BJP from burying the Kashmir issue and Article 370.
Mehbooba criticized the BJP’s claim of an improved situation in IIOJK, pointing out the delay in holding elections over the past decade. “People are suffocating and want a government that addresses their concerns,” she said.
Responding to Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s remarks about the Abdullahs, Muftis, and Gandhis, Mehbooba questioned the BJP’s unfulfilled promises, including depositing Rs 15 lakh in people’s accounts and providing two crore jobs annually.
