IIOJK under lockdown on Modi’s rally in Srinagar today
Srinagar: Indian illegally occupied Jammu and Kashmir has been transformed into a fortress with heavy restrictions imposed in the name of stringent security for Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s visit, today.
According to Kashmir Media Service, Modi is set to address election rallies at Kashmir Cricket Stadium and Katra, the base camp of Vaishno Devi Shrine.
Srinagar city has been declared a “red zone” for drone operations, curtailing freedom of movement and assembly. The city has taken on the appearance of a military exercise, with Narendra Modi’s visit resembling an inspection than a rally.
A heavy security blanket covers the city, with forces personnel deployed along roads and special checkpoints set up. Troops are conducting vehicle checks and intensifying surveillance, creating an atmosphere of fear and intimidation.
Inspector General of Police V K Birdi stated that a multi-tier security arrangement has been made for the visit, while traffic assistance points have been set up to minimize public inconvenience.
