Over 1,300 Indian students, faculty members unite against India-Israel business event in Bengaluru
New Delhi: Over 1,300 students and faculty members from top institutions, including IIT Bombay, IIT Kanpur, and IISc Bengaluru, have signed a letter opposing the upcoming “India-Israel Business Summit” in Bengaluru, Karnataka.
According to Kashmir Media Service, the letter cites concerns over Israel’s involvement in the Gaza conflict and human rights violations.
The signatories urged the authorities to reconsider their association with Israel and cancel the summit, arguing it would support Israel’s “genocidal action” in Palestine. They highlight Israel’s destruction of universities, healthcare facilities, and brutal raids on the West Bank.
The students expressed concern over Indian Institute of Science (IISc)’s sponsorship of the event, contrasting it with the global academic community’s divestment from Israel in solidarity with Palestine.
The signatories insist that hosting the event would condone Israel’s actions in Gaza, where 40,000 civilians have been killed and 2.3 million displaced.
