Woman gang-raped in India’s Pune city
Pune: In a horrific incident, a 21-year-old woman was gang raped by three individuals in Maharashtra state.
According to Kashmir Media Service, the woman was gang-raped while her male companion was assaulted on the outskirts of Pune city of the state, police said.
The police said that the woman had gone to the locality with a male friend. “As per preliminary details, the woman and her male friend had gone to the Bopdev Ghar area on Thursday late at night, where three unknown people allegedly raped her,” said a senior official from Pune police.
Notably, the issue of sexual violence against women in India is deeply alarming. Incidents of rape and other forms of sexual assault occur with disturbing frequency, prompting serious concerns about women’s safety. Delhi, the capital of India, has been infamously labeled the “rape capital,” reflecting the gravity of the situation.
