Indian BSF man commits suicide in IIOJK
Srinagar: An Indian Border Security Force (BSF) man committed suicide in Kupwara district of Indian illegally occupied Jammu and Kashmir.
According to Kashmir Media Service, the soldier of E-127 battalion, whose identity has not been disclosed by Indian officials, committed suicide by shooting himself with his service rifle at Police Lines in Handwara area of the district.
“The colleagues found him critically injured and immediately rushed him to District Hospital, Handwara but despite medical efforts, the BSF man succumbed to his injuries,” the officials said.
They said after completion of post-mortem formalities, the body will be handed over to the family.
The reasons behind the BSF man’s extreme step are not known yet, however, it is believed that the forces’ personnel deployed in IIOJK are under mental stress. The mental health of soldiers deployed in the occupied territory has been a cause of concern for many years.
This incident is not an isolated one, as a total of 607 Indian forces’ personnel have taken their lives in the occupied territory since January 2007.
