Charge d’ Affaires Zaidi inaugurates photo exhibition in Brussels marking Kashmir Black Day
Brussels: Pakistan Charge d’ Affaires Faraz Zaidi on Monday inaugurated a photo exhibition marking Kashmir Black Day at the Embassy of Pakistan in Brussels, highlighting India’s human rights violations in Indian illegally occupied Jammu and Kashmir (IIOJK).
According to Kashmir Media Service, the event also underscored Pakistan’s commitment to raising awareness about the plight of the Kashmiri people.
The exhibition, which will run for a week, showcased photographic evidence of the ongoing atrocities faced by the people of Kashmir.
Speaking at the inauguration, Faraz Zaidi paid tribute to the resilience of the Kashmiri people, who continued their struggle for self-determination despite decades of oppression.
He stressed the significance of October 27, a date remembered as the day when Indian forces illegally occupied Jammu and Kashmir, initiating an era of violence and repression that continues to this day.
“India’s occupation of Kashmir has resulted in countless human rights violations, with the people of IIOJK suffering immense hardships. Their spirit, however, remains unbroken in the face of injustice. The international community must intervene to stop the bloodshed and end the suffering of these defenseless people,” a press release quoted the Zaidi as saying.
He further emphasized that such exhibitions played a critical role in educating the global audience about the gravity of the situation in IIOJK.
The exhibition allowed visitors to grasp the extent of the human rights abuses inflicted upon the Kashmiris, bringing to light the decades-long oppression they had endured, he added
Zaidi reiterated Pakistan’s unwavering moral, political, and diplomatic support for the Kashmiri people.
“Pakistan will continue to advocate for the Kashmir cause on every platform until the Kashmiris’ right to self-determination is realized. The people of Pakistan stand firmly by their Kashmiri brothers and sisters in their just struggle for freedom from Indian subjugation,” he added.
The exhibition at the Embassy of Pakistan in Brussels invited people from all walks of life to engage with the ongoing humanitarian crisis in IIOJK and reflect on the urgent need for global action to address these injustices.
“Through a compelling visual narrative, it portrays the harsh realities of life under occupation, documenting incidents of extrajudicial killings, arbitrary arrests, and suppression of fundamental freedoms. The material draws on reports from the United Nations, international non-governmental organizations (INGOs), human rights volunteers, and global media outlets, emphasizing the persistent and brutal nature of the occupation,” it was further added.
