NC leader expects IIOJK assembly to pass resolution for Article 370 restoration
Srinagar: National Conference leader Aga Ruhullah Mehdi expressed optimism that the occupied Jammu and Kashmir Assembly will pass a resolution for the restoration of Article 370 during its first session.
According to Kashmir Media Service, in a statement on ‘X Space’, Mehdi, who is also the Lok Sabha MP from Srinagar, stated, “I expect that the resolution on the restoration of Article 370 would be the first business. If not the first business, I anticipate it will be passed in the first session of the Assembly.” He reaffirmed his commitment to this cause, highlighting that the National Conference shares this dedication.
Having been a vocal advocate for the restoration of Jammu and Kashmir’s special status, which was revoked on August 5, 2019, Mehdi reassured supporters that there is no cause for concern regarding the party’s position on the matter. “Based on my interactions with party leaders before and after the elections, I see no signals that, God forbid, it will not happen,” he said.
Although Mehdi acknowledged that he is not part of the government or the legislative assembly, he pledged to continue advocating for the restoration of Article 370. “I will keep reminding them. We expect them to deliver on that,” he stated.
