APHC-AJK expresses concern over Kashmiri detainees’ plight

Islamabad: The All Parties Hurriyat Conference Azad Jammu and Kashmir (APHC-AJK) chapter has expressed deep concern over the plight of illegally detained Kashmiris languishing in Indian and occupied Jammu and Kashmir jails, calling on the international community to play a role in their release.

According to Kashmir Media Service, in a joint statement issued in Islamabad, APHC-AJK General Secretary Advocate Pervez Shah and Information Secretary Mushtaq Ahmad Butt highlighted that the Modi government has imprisoned many Hurriyat leaders and activists on false charges as a means of retaliation for challenging the Indian illegal occupation of their homeland.

They emphasized that these detained leaders and activists are deprived of essential medical and basic facilities in jails, severely affecting their health.

The Hurriyat leaders urged the international community and human rights organizations to take note of the Kashmiri detainees’ plight and exert pressure on India for their release. They reiterated that Kashmiris are making immense sacrifices for freedom from Indian illegal occupation, which will not go in vain.

Furthermore, Advocate Pervez and Mushtaq Butt paid tribute to the martyrs of Jammu, stating that their significant sacrifices will not go in vein and will ultimately yield results. They also appealed to the United Nations to play its part in resolving the Kashmir dispute in accordance with its resolutions to ensure lasting peace and security in South Asia.
