IIOJK Dy CM stresses need to ensure protection of jobs, land for locals

Kashmiris’ land should not be given to outsiders, says Surinder Choudhary

Srinagar: Occupied Jammu and Kashmir Deputy Chief Minister Surinder Choudhary has emphasized the need for safeguards to ensure the protection of jobs and land for local residents.

According to Kashmir Media Service, speaking to reporters on the sidelines of an event at the National Conference (NC) headquarters in Jammu, Choudhary highlighted concerns over the recent purchase of land by a retired Indian Police Service (IPS) officer at discounted prices in two tourist areas. He also pointed out that a woman from outside Kashmir had become a Kashmir Administrative Service (KAS) officer.

“I am not saying that we have enmity with people from outside Kashmir, but our concern is that our children cannot compete with students from Delhi or other places. Our land is very limited, and it should be our right,” Choudhary said.

The Deputy Chief Minister urged the BJP to stop “humiliating” the people of the Jammu and Kashmir by opposing the recently passed special status resolution in the assembly, and instead, focus on working for the welfare of the local population.

“Our land and jobs are being taken by outsiders. A girl from outside J&K has become a KAS officer. This is not a small issue. Where will our children go when they cannot compete with students from Delhi and other places?” he added.

Choudhary further stated that the limited land in J&K should not be given to outsiders, as was the case with the recently retired IPS officer, who was allegedly “boasting” about his honesty.

“How did he buy land at cheaper rates in two tourist areas?” he asked, without identifying the former officer.
