Indian authorities seize another property in IIOJK
Srinagar,: In a continuation of their colonial policies of seizing Kashmiris’ assets, Indian authorities have attached yet another property in the Kulgam district of Indian illegally occupied Jammu and Kashmir (IIOJK).
According to Kashmir Media Service, a 10-marla residential house, registered in the name of Mushtaq Ahmad Bhat, a resident of Chenigam, Frisal, was seized by Indian police under the draconian Unlawful Activities (Prevention) Act (UAPA).
To provide a legal façade to this unlawful act, police officials claimed the attachment was carried out in the presence of an Executive Magistrate. They further justified the move by stating that the property was allegedly used to shelter four mujahideen, who were martyred at the same location on 6th July 2024. The occupation authorities described the action as a significant step to curb pro-freedom activities in IIOJK.
Since the illegal revocation of IIOJK’s special status in August 2019, the Modi regime’s Lieutenant Governor-led administration has seized hundreds of properties, including homes, shops, offices, and land, belonging to civilians and various organizations in the territory. This ongoing campaign is widely seen as an attempt to economically destabilize Kashmiris and change the region’s demographic composition by settling non-Kashmiris in their land.
