Modi regime’s undemocratic measures exposes real face of so-called democratic India: Report
#ErosionOfIndianDemocracy
Islamabad: The undemocratic measures of the Modi regime have exposed the real face of so-called democratic India.
A report released by Kashmir Media Service, today, said the Modi regime is tragically driving India towards authoritarianism as political rights and civil liberties in India have deteriorated since Modi became Prime Minister in 2014
It lamented that the policies of Bharatiya Janata Party against Muslims and other minority communities have led to a deterioration of political and civil liberties in India.
It said censorship of media and repression of civil society organisations are glaring examples of the Modi regime’s authoritarianism.
The report said enactment of anti-Muslim laws and invocation of sedition law against political dissent are glaring examples of democracy’s erosion in India
It said judicial independence has become a thing of the past in Modi’s India. Not only the judiciary but every institution is following Hindutva ideology, it added.
The report said the Modi regime has increased attacks against human rights groups, activists and others who speak against Hindutva agenda.
It said India has proved itself to be a sham democracy by continuously denying the Kashmiris their democratic right to choose their political future.
It said that India’s systematic erosion of democracy has been captured empirically by reputed global institutes like Freedom House and V-Dem.
The report maintained that the world must stand up against Modi’s rising authoritarianism and repression of peoples’ rights in India and occupied Jammu and Kashmir, adding the fascist Modi regime is a threat to the entire humanity.
