If justice system in India was strong Modi, Yogi would have been in jail’
New Delhi: Shankaracharya Swami Nishchalanand Saraswati of Govardhan Math Puri has claimed that if the justice system in India was strong and impartial, both Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath would have been in jail.
According to Kashmir Media Service, Shankaracharya talking to the media in Ujjain after attending the Dharma Sabha organized by the Mahakaleshwar Temple Management Committee, raised the issue of accountability of the country’s leadership.
He said a terrorist is being appointed as a Shankaracharya (religious leader). He said what bigger crime could Narendra Modi and Yogi Adityanath have committed? He said that if the justice system in India was strong and impartial, both of them would have faced serious legal consequences and possibly imprisonment.
He questioned whether it is the duty of the Prime Minister and the Chief Minister to appoint someone as a Shankaracharya? There is no judicial system in India that can punish them for this.
Referring to the deteriorating system of governance, justice and accountability in India, he said that the current political leadership of the country is constantly ignoring moral and judicial principles. He stressed the need for a strong and independent judiciary in India that functions without the influence of political or economic power centers.
He said that the failure of the judiciary to take action against powerful political figures is eroding the public’s faith in the judiciary.
