Cow vigilantes assault Muslim truck driver in Haryana
Nuh, Haryana: A Muslim truck driver, Arman Khan, was brutally attacked by members of a cow vigilante group in Haryana’s Nuh. The incident came to light after a video showing the assault went viral on social media.
According to Kashmir Media Service, in the video, Khan is seen being beaten, dragged by his hair, and forced to chant slogans like “gau hamari mata hai” (the cow is our mother) and “bail hamara baap hai” (the bull is our father).
This assault is part of a growing trend of religious violence linked to cow vigilantism in India, often targeting Muslims. Vigilante groups, many associated with Hindutva ideology, have been implicated in harassment, beatings, and even lynchings under the pretext of cow protection.
Haryana, particularly, has emerged as a hotspot for such incidents. A November report by the Centre for the Study of Organised Hate revealed that 95% of cow vigilante social media activity originates from BJP-ruled states, with Haryana accounting for 320 cases.
Authorities are yet to take concrete action against the attackers, raising concerns about the increasing impunity for such crimes.
