Raipur: At least nine Indian forces’ personnel were killed after their vehicle was blown up by Maoists in the Chhattisgarh state of India.

According to Kashmir Media Service, the blast occurred on the Bedre-Kutru Road in the Bijapur district of Bastar range today, when the forces personnel were returning from a joint operation in the Dantewada and Narayanpur districts. Dantewada and Narayanpur districts are among the seven Maoist-affected districts in the Bastar range.

Officials said that eight members of the District Reserve Guard (DRG) troops, along with their driver were killed after Maoists detonated an improvised explosive device (IED) to blow up their vehicle.

It is pertinent to mention that this incident happened within 24 hours of an encounter between the Indian troops and Maoists in Bastar on Sunday, January 05, in which five ultras were killed. A DRG head constable was also killed in the gunfight.
