Pakistan observe Kashmir Solidarity Day with pledge to support Kashmiri struggle: FO

Islamabad: The government and people of Pakistan are observing Kashmir Solidarity Day to reaffirm their unwavering support for the just struggle of the Kashmiri people for their right to self-determination.

According to Kashmir Media Service, Foreign Office Spokesperson Shafqat Ali Khan, in a statement issued on the occasion, highlighted Pakistan’s steadfast moral, diplomatic, and political support for the Kashmir cause. The statement further mentioned that the President, Prime Minister, Deputy Prime Minister, and Foreign Minister have conveyed special messages emphasizing Pakistan’s commitment to Kashmiris’ struggle.

As part of diplomatic efforts, the Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister have written letters to the UN Security Council and General Assembly presidents, the UN Secretary-General, the UN High Commissioner for Human Rights, and the OIC Secretary-General, urging them to take cognizance of the situation in Indian illegally occupied Jammu and Kashmir. He reiterated the call for implementing UN Security Council resolutions and stressed the need for a fair and impartial plebiscite in Jammu and Kashmir under UN supervision. He also urged the UN and OIC leadership to play their role in improving the human rights situation in the occupied territory.

Ahead of Kashmir Solidarity Day, a special briefing was arranged in Islamabad to sensitize foreign diplomats about the grave situation in the occupied territory. The Foreign Secretary, along with officials of the ministry, also participated in a solidarity walk at Constitution Avenue to mark the day.

Meanwhile, Pakistani diplomatic missions worldwide are holding seminars, webinars, rallies, and exhibitions to highlight gross human rights violations in the occupied territory and express solidarity with the Kashmiri people.
