Speakers at seminar stress youths’ role, digital advocacy to raise Kashmir issue globally
ISLAMABAD: Speakers at an on the occasion of Kashmir Solidarity Day stressed the role of youth, narrative building and digital advocacy to effectively raise the Kashmir issue at international forums.
According to Kashmir Media Service, the event titled ‘Solidarity with Kashmir and Voice of Youth’ was organized by the Institute of Policy Studies in collaboration with Youth Forum for Kashmir, Youth Association of Pakistan and Youth Diplomacy Forum in Islamabad today. Among the speakers were IPS Chairman Khalid Rehman, former Ambassador Syed Abrar Hussain, Chairman of the Youth Association of Pakistan Abdul Qadir, and others including Alina Zafar, Masavir Tanoli, Basim Raza, Shaheer Ahmed, Abdul Basit, and PhD scholar Tayyiba Khurshid.
They noted that the determination and resilience of Kashmiris have proven that their struggle for freedom from Indian occupation continues relentlessly. They urged the youth to amplify the voices of the oppressed Kashmiris globally. The speakers emphasized that the youth should take charge of digital advocacy, counter the misinformation campaigns and narratives propagated by India, mobilize support, and present a truth-based narrative to attract continuous global attention.
The speakers highlighted ongoing human rights violations by Indian forces in the occupied Kashmir. They pointed out the severe atrocities including widespread violence, massacres, enforced disappearances, arrests, and restrictions on religious, political, and social freedoms in the disputed territory.
