BJP used CBI, tax dept as tools to extort INR 335 crore for electoral gains

New Delhi: The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) subjected at least 33 corporate companies to raids by using the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) and the Income Tax (IT) department to coerce them into donating a staggering INR 335 crore to the ruling party in India, an independent Indian media organization, Newslaundry, revealed in its report.

According to Kashmir Media Service, the report claims that these companies were pressured through notices on so-called financial irregularities into making donations as a means to escape further legal action.

Critics label the alleged practice as “political extortion.” Opposition leaders have also condemned the BJP for using investigative agencies as tools to amass funds for electoral gains.

Social media is filled with reactions, with users branding the Modi government as running a “Vasooli Racket” rather than a legitimate administration. The allegations raise concerns over the misuse of law enforcement agencies for political and financial leverage.

The BJP has yet to respond to the accusations, while opposition parties are demanding an independent probe into the matter.
