BJP regime’s prejudices exposed: Farooq Rehmani

Islamabad: Chairman of Jammu and Kashmir People’s Freedom League and senior leader of All Parties Hurriyat Conference Azad Jammu and Kashmir (APHC-AJK) chapter Muhammad Farooq Rehmani has condemned the unhistorical statement regarding the role of the 13 July 1931 freedom fighters in Kashmir’s history.

According to Kashmir Media Service, Farooq Rehmani, in a press statement said the BJP is publicly attempting to distort one of the most revered and significant episodes in Kashmir’s history. He described the BJP’s campaign as ridiculous and hateful, stressing that it must be denounced not only by all patriots of the State of Jammu and Kashmir, Ladakh, Gilgit, and Baltistan, but also by the people of IIOJK, who should raise their voices against these derogatory remarks by the ruling party.

He further said, “The BJP, an offshoot of the RSS, is a racist and fascist organization whose hands are soaked in the blood of Muslims and other minorities in India. Its bloody rule is sowing communal disharmony and fascism, spreading seeds of hatred and revenge.”

Farooq Rehmani added that the RSS-backed BJP government in India was distorting history based on communal and religious prejudices to prolong the illegal and forcible occupation of Jammu and Kashmir. He pointed out that the Delhi regime began its false campaign against Muslims by making and imposing laws based on its own choices and preferences, changing the names of cities and towns, and removing 13 July as a national holiday in IIOJK.

The senior leader further stated that the BJP regime is also indoctrinating Muslim students in schools according to its religious mythology, aiming to bring about a future religious change in IIOJK. He emphasized that this campaign of distorting the history of the political movement is a reflection of the BJP’s deep religious and racial prejudices. Otherwise, the 13 July 1931 massacre by the troops of Maharaja Hari Singh was a result of the long repression, oppression, and political and economic slavery faced by the overwhelming majority of Kashmiris.

He said that BJP is leading the Hindutva agenda in IIOJK through its settler colonial policy, aimed at changing the centuries-old demography and culture in IIOJK.

Muhammad Farooq Rehmani urged the international community to take note of the unfolding situation in IIOJK and take necessary measures against the obnoxious steps of the Indian Hindutva regime in the territory.
