Dalit student strangled to death in Rajasthan for refusing Holi colours amid rising caste violence

Jaipur: In yet another horrific incident of caste-based violence in India, a 25-year-old Dalit student was brutally attacked and strangled to death after refusing to apply color ahead of Holi in Rajasthan’s Dausa district.
According to Kashmir Media Service, the victim, Hansraj Meena, was preparing for competitive exams at a public library in Ralwas village when the attack occurred. As per reports, the three accused—brothers Ashok, Bablu, and Kaluram—became enraged when Hansraj, a Dalit, refused to allow them to smear him with Holi colors.
According to CCTV footage from the library, as Hansraj refused to be smeared with colors, the trio kicked him, thrashed him with belts, and ultimately one of them strangled him to death.
The shocking incident led to protests by Hansraj’s family and villagers, who blocked a highway in demand for justice. They are calling for Rs 50 lakh in compensation, a government job for the victim’s family, and the immediate arrest of the accused.
Lalsot Additional Superintendent of Police (ASP) Dinesh Agarwal said the accused have been identified through CCTV footage and are currently absconding. A six-member team has been formed to track down and arrest them.
This tragic incident highlights the alarming rise in caste-based violence in Modi’s India and the need for urgent action to protect vulnerable communities.
