‘Reservation policy attempt to marginalize Kashmiri-speaking people’
Srinagar: Peoples Conference leader and member of the assembly in Indian illegally occupied Jammu and Kashmir Sajjad Ghani Lone has strongly criticized the reservation policy, saying that through this policy, an attempt is being made to marginalize the Kashmiri-speaking people and establish a dominant position over them.
According to Kashmir Media Service, Sajjad Ghani Lone during his speech in the assembly said the reservation policy is designed to reduce the presence of Kashmiri speakers in the administrative and political structure of the territory.
He cited statistics and said, “We have seen that a very small number of Kashmiris is qualifying in competitive examinations, it is not that they are incompetent but they are being deliberately excluded from the competitive space.”
Sajjad Lone said Kashmiris are being disempowered and an attempt is being made to establish a dominant position over them and if this trend continues, only a few Kashmiris in the civil secretariat will be found.
He said the current reservation policy will have serious consequences and urged the authorities of the occupied territory to end the unfair reservation policy. He further said the Indian government is taking steps that may have long-term negative consequences.
