Posters appear across IOJK ahead of Kashmir Martyrs’ Day, call for strike on July 13

Srinagar: Ahead of Kashmir Martyrs’ Day, posters paying glowing tributes to the martyrs of July 13, 1931, and other Kashmiri martyrs have appeared in several areas of Indian occupied Jammu and Kashmir (IOJK).

According to Kashmir Media Service, the Kashmir Martyrs’ Day is observed on July 13 every year on both sides of the Line of Control and all over the world by the Kashmiris to pay homage to 22 Kashmiris who were martyred by the forces of Dogra ruler in 1931. These martyrs had risen against the oppressive Dogra regime, demanding freedom and dignity for the people of Kashmir.

The posters, featuring images of jailed Hurriyet leaders, were displayed by several pro-freedom groups. They carried powerful messages vowing that the sacrifices of Kashmiri martyrs would not be allowed to go waste and would one day bear fruit in the form of freedom from Indian occupation. The posters urged people to observe a complete strike on Sunday, July 13, in remembrance of the martyrs.

Call for the strike on July 13 has been given by the All Parties Hurriyat Conference and supported by all pro-freedom organizations.

The posters also appealed to United Nations, Organization of Islamic Cooperation and peace-loving countries to intervene and save the innocent Kashmiris from the brutality of Indian occupation forces. They stressed the need for resolving the Kashmir dispute in line with its historical context and the aspirations of the Kashmiri people.

Meanwhile, the posters have also been widely circulated on social media platforms including Twitter, Facebook and WhatsApp.
