Lahore: A grand rally was organized in the historic city of Lahore on the occasion of Pakistan Accession Day, July 19, organized by the All Parties Hurriyat Conference Azad Jammu and Kashmir (APHC-AJK) chapter in which thousands of people participated.

According to Kashmir Media Service, the rally was led by APHC-AJK Convener Ghulam Muhammad Safi and the heads of all major political, religious and social parties of Pakistan, representatives, lawyers, intellectuals, teachers, journalists, human rights activists and respected citizens belonging to different schools of thought participated in large numbers.

This gathering was actually a renewal of the great and irrevocable pledge of the Kashmiris, which they had made clear to the world on July 19, 1947, by linking their future with Pakistan through a unanimous resolution of the leaders in Srinagar, that the geography, politics, economy and civilization of Kashmir are linked to Pakistan.

The rally speakers included Syed Jawad Naqvi, Khawaja Saad Rafique, Allama Usman Muzaffar (Tehreek-e-Labbaik Pakistan), Ziauddin Ansari (Jamaat-e-Islami), Hafiz Abdul Rehman, (Jamiat Ulema-e-Islam), Brigadier Khalid Mahmood (Retd), Rana Muhammad Arshad (Pakistan Muslim League-N), Dr Muzammil Hashmi (Central Muslim League) and Pandit Bhagwat Lal (Representative of Minority Community).

All the speakers described the Pakistan Accession Resolution of July 19, 1947 as a shining beacon of political maturity, foresight, national consciousness and understanding of the Kashmiri leadership. They said that on that day, the Kashmiri people had determined their political future before the world that the natural, geographical, ideological and spiritual relationship of Jammu and Kashmir is always with Pakistan.

The speakers assured that the great struggle of the Kashmiri people for freedom continues even today with the same spirit and ideology, and the Kashmiri people are an inseparable part of the Pakistani nation. This spirit of theirs has never waned, could not be suppressed, nor can it be eliminated by any coercion, violence or cunning.

They declared that they stand by the Kashmiri people’s right to self-determination and accession to Pakistan and will remain with the Kashmiri people in every field until it is achieved.

The speakers, expressing grave concern, said occupied Jammu and Kashmir is currently under the unconstitutional, illegal, immoral and inhuman occupation of India. They said the unarmed Kashmiri people there are facing heinous crimes such as state terrorism, genocide, human rights violations, killings, fake cases, settlement of non-state residents and changing the demography of the state.

The United Nations and all international human rights organizations immediately declare India’s illegal and unconstitutional actions in occupied Kashmir null and void.

Immediate and concrete steps should be taken to give the Kashmiri people their legitimate, legal and internationally recognized right to self-determination.

The international community should increase pressure on India to immediately stop the atrocities, barbarity and genocide being perpetrated on the Kashmiris.

The speakers categorically declared that the people and the state of Pakistan stand by the Kashmiri people. Neither Pakistan nor the Kashmiri people will accept any decision, agreement or compromise on Kashmir that is against the Kashmiri people and the resolutions of the United Nations, they added.

They maintained that the only and final solution to the Kashmir issue was a plebiscite in accordance with the resolutions of the United Nations.

At the end of the rally, APHC-AJK Convener Ghulam Muhammad Safi in his closing speech said July 19 is not just a day but a living promise in the hearts of the Kashmiri people and even today, the Kashmiri people are committed to this promise and this struggle will continue until the flag of Pakistan is hoisted in Srinagar.
