Indian passport holder Ranjeet Singh abducted in Niger

Jammu: A man from Indian illegally occupied Jammu and Kashmir has been abducted by militants in Niger. He has been identified as Ranjeet Singh, a resident of Ramban district in Jammu region.
According to Kashmir Media Service, Singh was working as a senior safety officer at Transrail Lighting Limited, a power transmission company operating in West Africa. His wife, Sheela Devi, said the family lost contact with him on July 15 and has since received no updates on his whereabouts.
Appealing for urgent government intervention, Sheela Devi pleaded for her husband’s safe release.
The Indian embassy confirmed that two Indian nationals were killed and one abducted in a recent attack in southwest Niger.
Political analysts believe that Ranjeet Singh may have been targeted due to suspicions commonly associated with Indian passport holders in African and Arab countries, as many have been arrested in the past over espionage-related charges.
