Indian troops martyr three youth in Srinagar fake encounter
Analysts, locals term encounter ploy to deflect criticism over Pahalgam attack

Srinagar: In yet another act of state terrorism, Indian troops martyred three Kashmiri youth in a fake encounter during a violent cordon and search operation in Srinagar district of Indian illegally occupied Jammu and Kashmir.
According to Kashmir Media Service, the operation was jointly launched by Indian Army, police and Central Reserve Police Force in Dachigam area of the district. The operation is ongoing in Lidwas, Dara and adjoining areas.
Locals in the area have condemned the Indian authorities’ attempt to link the martyred youth to the Pahalgam attack. They asserted that the youth were innocent and killed in a fake encounter to falsely brand them as militants.
Srinagar-based political analysts have also pointed out that the BJP-led regime is using such staged encounters to deflect criticism, particularly from voices like P. Chidambaram who have questioned the official narrative on the Pahalgam attack. The analysts further said that the fake encounter was staged ahead of the Indian Parliament’s monsoon session, which is scheduled to discuss the Pahalgam attack and Operation Sindoor.
Earlier, senior Congress leader and former Indian Home Minister P. Chidambaram in a media interview has questioned the Modi government’s presumption that the Pahalgam attackers were Pakistani nationals. Underscoring the absence of any public evidence linking the attackers to Pakistan, Chidambaram challenged the investigative process. He asked where are the attackers and why they were not apprehended, or even identified. The Congress leader argued that even India’s neighbouring countries—and international bodies like SCO and BRICS—have not blamed Pakistan for the assault.
