Only dialogue can bring peace, not war or coercion: Mirwaiz Umar Farooq

Srinagar: In Indian illegally occupied Jammu and Kashmir, senior All Parties Hurriyat Conference (APHC) leader Mirwaiz Umar Farooq has said that problems can never be resolved through war, violence, or the use of force, rather, the path to peace and prosperity lies in dialogue.
According to Kashmir Media Service, addressing the Friday congregation at Srinagar’s historic Jamia Masjid today, Mirwaiz referred to the recent heated debate in the Indian Parliament on the India-Pakistan war following the Pahalgam incident. He said members of both the government and opposition expressed their views on the success or failure of war. However, only a few — mostly from the opposition — highlighted the human cost of war, especially in the context of Jammu and Kashmir.
Among those voices, he said, were three Kashmiri MPs — Mian Altaf Ahmad, Engineer Rashid, and Agha Ruhullah Mehdi — who openly spoke about the pain, disempowerment, and suffering of the people of IIOJK.
Mirwaiz said that the sentiments expressed by these Kashmiri lawmakers resonate with the collective feelings of all Kashmiris. He expressed hope that those in power in New Delhi will take serious note of these heartfelt concerns and not ignore them. Emphasizing the broader regional impact, he said the billions living in South Asia—particularly the vast population of the poor—deserve peace, dignity, and prosperity.
