Rahul Gandhi says EC facilitating vote rigging for BJP, calls it ‘treason’

New Delhi: Leader of Opposition (LOP) Rahul Gandhi launched a scathing attack on the Election Commission (EC), accused it of orchestrating “vote theft” to benefit the BJP. He claimed his party has “open-and-shut” evidence proving the poll body’s direct involvement.

According to Kashmir Media Service, speaking to reporters outside parliament, Rahul Gandhi said, “Votes are being stolen. Now we have open and shut proof that the Election Commission is facilitating vote theft. I am saying this with 100% evidence. As soon as we present this evidence to everyone, the entire country will know that the Election Commission is facilitating vote theft. For whom is it doing this? It is doing this for the BJP. No question”.

He likened the findings to an “atom bomb”, stating his party had suspicions of poll irregularities in the Madhya Pradesh Assembly polls last year, then in the Lok Sabha polls, and this continued further in Maharashtra.

“We suspected foul play and, seeing the EC’s inaction, conducted our own six-month investigation. What we found is explosive. When it comes out, the EC will have nowhere to hide,” he warned.

Gandhi also warned that those people in the EC who are involved in this, from the top to the bottom, should remember that they will not be spared because they are “working against India.”

“This is treason, nothing less than that. You may be retired; you may be anywhere; we will find you,” he said.

The Congress leader’s remarks came after he and other Opposition parties wrote to Lok Sabha Speaker Om Birla, urging him to schedule a special discussion on the ongoing voter list revision in Bihar without any further delay. In their letter to Birla, the Opposition MPs expressed deep concern over the Special Intensive Revision (SIR) exercise in Bihar, especially a few months before the state assembly elections.
