Indian police seize one more property in IIOJK
Jammu: Continuing its colonial agenda in Indian illegally occupied Jammu and Kashmir, the New Delhi-appointed administration under Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha has seized the immovable property of a local resident in Kathua district.
According to Kashmir Media Service, the police, acting on the orders of Manoj Sinha, confiscated 16.5 marlas of land belonging to Mohammad Ashraf, a resident of Lowang village of Bani tehsil.
Police authorities claimed that Ashraf is involved in pro-freedom activities and has been declared an absconder, allegations frequently used to target Kashmiris.
Since the unilateral and illegal abrogation of IIOJK’s special status in August 2019, the BJP-led Indian government has intensified its crackdown in the territory. Hundreds of residential and commercial owned by Kashmiris have been seized. This is being seen as a calculated effort to weaken the local population economically and facilitate demographic changes by settling non-local Hindus on confiscated lands.
