India enforces strict curbs, deploys drones, CCTVs across Kashmir for I-Day

Srinagar: India has enforced strict restrictions and stepped up surveillance across Indian illegally occupied Jammu and Kashmir, deploying drones, CCTVs, and setting up checkpoints as part of multi-tier arrangements for its Independence Day celebrations on August 15.
According to Kashmir Media Service, officials said restrictions have been intensified in all 20 districts, with heightened measures in sensitive areas of the Kashmir Valley. Road blockades, vehicle checks, cordon-and-search operations, and area domination exercises are being conducted, particularly along the Working Boundary and Line of Control.
Inspector General of Police, Kashmir, Vidhi Kumar Birdi, told reporters in Srinagar that multi-tier arrangements have been made in coordination with Indian paramilitary forces to ensure “smooth” I-Day celebrations. He said forces personnel have been deployed in strength, while rehearsals for the main event are underway.
The IGP has directed officers to reinforce night-time checkpoints at vulnerable points and entry/exit routes of major towns and cities.
Authorities have also installed additional surveillance equipment to monitor key venues and surrounding localities, while random frisking and vehicle searches are being carried out to restrict movement of what they termed “subversive elements.”
