Restrictions tightened in IIOJK to prevent protests against US-Israeli aggression on Iran

APHC calls for peaceful demonstrations after Friday prayers

Srinagar: In Indian illegally occupied Jammu and Kashmir (IIOJK), the administration under the New Delhi-appointed Lieutenant Governor has further intensified curfew-like restrictions to prevent protests against the US-Israeli aggression on Iran.

According to Kashmir Media Service, the restrictions have remained in force across the occupied territory for the past five days to curb demonstrations against Israeli and American actions targeting Iran. The All Parties Hurriyat Conference (APHC) has called for peaceful protests after Friday prayers today against the killing of Iran’s Supreme Leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei, the US-Israeli aggression, and the stringent measures imposed by the Indian authorities in the occupied territory.

To prevent demonstrations, the administration has deployed heavy contingents of the Indian Army and the Central Reserve Police Force across Srinagar, Baramulla, Bandipora, Budgam, Pulwama and other districts of the Kashmir Valley. Major roads and intersections have been sealed with barbed wire and barricades.

Indian forces have also cordoned off Srinagar’s commercial hub, Lal Chowk, effectively turning it into a no-go area.

The restrictions were first imposed on Monday when people across the occupied territory took to the streets to protest against the aggression on Iran and the killing of Ayatollah Khamenei.

Indian police have so far arrested more than 800 Kashmiri youths, including dozens of girls, for participating in the protests. The administration has also ordered the closure of educational institutions until Saturday, while mobile internet services have been suspended across the occupied territory.

Meanwhile, APHC spokesman Advocate Abdul Rashid Minhas, in a statement issued in Srinagar, urged Kashmiris to stage strong protests after Friday prayers against the aggression on Iran, the anti-Muslim agenda of Narendra Modi and Benjamin Netanyahu, and the continued restrictions imposed in IIOJK.
