Brussels,: A strong protest was held outside the Indian Embassy in Brussels, Belgium, on Indian Independence Day, denouncing Indian atrocities in occupied Jammu and Kashmir.

According to Kashmir Media Service, the demonstration was organized by the Kashmir Council Europe and led by the council’s chairman, Ali Raza Syed. A large number of participants included Kashmiri and Pakistani expatriates, along with supporters of the Kashmir cause and representatives of various political and social organizations.

Prominent attendees included Ali Raza Syed, Sardar Sadeeq, Chaudhry Khalid Joshi, Rao Mustajab, Dr. Manzoor Zahoor, Malik Ajmal, Shiraz Butt, Raja Khalid, Ghiyas-ud-Din Bhatti, Syed Aslam Shah, Raja Abdul Qayyum, Shazia Aslam, and Mehr Nadeem. Protesters carried placards and banners highlighting support for Kashmiris and condemning Indian oppression. They also displayed images of imprisoned Hurriyat leaders, Yasin Malik and Shabbir Ahmad Shah, and internationally recognized human rights activist Khurram Parvez. The protesters demanded the immediate release of all Kashmiri political detainees.

Ali Raza Syed, chairman of Kashmir Council UK, said that India has committed severe atrocities against Kashmiris and has illegally occupied a large part of Jammu and Kashmir for decades. “India is carrying out extrajudicial killings of Kashmiri youth and attempting demographic changes in the occupied territory,” he said, calling on the international community to take notice.

Other speakers at the protest also demanded an end to Indian oppression in Kashmir and called for a just and peaceful resolution of the Kashmir dispute.
