Kashmir conference held in Birmingham on Gilani’s martyrdom anniversary
Birmingham: A significant Kashmir conference was held in Birmingham today by Tehreek-e-Kashmir, UK, to mark the fifth martyrdom anniversary of veteran Hurriyat leader Syed Ali Gilani.
According to Kashmir Media Service, the proceedings were hosted by Raja Fahim Kayani, President of Tehreek-e-Kashmir, UK, and the All Parties International Kashmir Coordination Committee.
A number of prominent political, religious, social, and community figures attended the conference and paid tribute to Syed Ali Gilani’s lifelong contributions to Kashmir freedom movement.
Among the speakers were former Secretary of the Azad Jammu and Kashmir government Abdul Hamid; President of Tehreek-e-Kashmir, Europe, Mohammed Ghalib; Councillor Shaukat Ali Khan, President of PML-N Azad Kashmir Midlands, UK, Chaudhry Mohammed Shakil; Maulana Sarfaraz Ahmed Madni, Dr Khurram Bashir, Dr Bashir Zaheer of the British Pakistani Forum, Senior Vice President of PPP, UK, Midlands Mirza Akhtar Mahmood, Hafiz Muhammad Idrees, Muhammad Ayub Sarkhvi, Ch Ikram ul Haq, President of Tehreek e Kashmir, Birmingham Sardar Khan, Wajid Bashir and others.
The speakers paid rich tribute to Syed Ali Gilani, describing him as a symbol of courage, steadfastness, and resistance who consistently spoke the truth in the face of oppression and tyranny. They highlighted his unwavering commitment to the people of Jammu and Kashmir and his lifelong struggle for their political rights.
The speakers recalled his powerful message to the youth of Indian occupied Kashmir: “We are Pakistanis, and Pakistan is ours.” They emphasized that the younger generation must be made fully aware of Syed Ali Shah Geelani’s immense sacrifices, his political vision, his ideology, and the strength of his character.
The conference concluded with special prayers for the freedom of Kashmir and Palestine, as well as for the elevation of the ranks of the martyrs of Jammu and Kashmir.
