Vote theft main issue before India today, Modi’s Manipur visit now “no big deal”: Rahul Gandhi

Gandhinagar: Congress leader Rahul Gandhi said Manipur has been in trouble for a long time and Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s visit to the strife-torn state now is not a “big deal”, insisting that the real challenge before the country today is “vote chori” (vote theft).
According to Kashmir Media Service, talking to reporters outside the Keshod airport in Junagadh district of Gujarat, the Leader of Opposition in the Lok Sabha stressed that the slogan “vote chor” (vote thief) is resonating everywhere in the country.
“Manipur has been in trouble for a long time and the PM [Modi] has decided to go there now. That’s not a big deal. The main issue today in India is ‘vote chori’ (vote theft),” Gandhi remarked.
He said that the ruling Bharatiya Janata Party was subverting democracy in several states. “They stole the elections of Haryana and Maharashtra. We proved that in Karnataka recently. So, the main issue is vote theft. Everywhere people are raising ‘vote chor’ (vote thief) slogan,” Gandhi said.
Modi is scheduled to visit Manipur on tomorrow (Saturday), where he will meet internally displaced people in Churachandpur and state capital Imphal. This will be his first visit to Manipur since ethnic violence broke out in the state two years ago, claiming more than 260 lives, mostly Christians, and forcing thousands to flee their homes.
