Shiv Sena terms Maraj Malik’s arrest as attack on Constitutional rights

Jammu: Shiv Sena (UBT) Jammu Kashmir unit has strongly condemned the detention of AAP MLA from Doda East Assembly seat of Jammu under draconian Public Safety Act (PSA) and called it unconstitutional.

According to Kashmir Media Service, Shiv Sena (UBT) Jammu and Kashmir unit chief Manish Sahni addressing a news conference said this is not only a direct violation of the rights granted by the Constitution but is also a suppression of the rights of the people’s representatives.

He said the BJP is moving ahead with the single-point goal of suppressing the voice of the opposition with the help of its dictatorial policies, directly and indirectly.

He said, before Meraj Malik, Shiv Sena (UBT) MP Sanjay Raut, Hemant Soren, Arvind Kejriwal, Manish Sisodia, Satyendra Jain, Sanjay Singh and countless opposition leaders have been detained with the help of government agencies.

Sahni took a dig at the double standard of BJP and said that under a law like PSA, arrests should have been made of BJP leaders like Vijay Shah who had made objectionable remarks on a Muslim woman army officer.
He said Jammu has been facing heavy natural disasters for the last few weeks, the Indian government has not yet announced a relief package for Jammu and Kashmir.

The session of Jammu and Kashmir Assembly is also going to start soon, in such a situation, a situation is being created so that the discussion on restoration of Jammu and Kashmir state status, disaster and other important public issues becomes secondary in the uproar due to Malik’s detention.
