Massive CASO enters second day in Udhampur

Fresh reinforcements, drones, and sniffer dogs pressed into service today

Jammu: In Indian illegally occupied Jammu and Kashmir, the massive cordon and search operation (CASO) in the Seoj Dhar forest area along the Doda–Udhampur border entered its second day on Sunday.

According to Kashmir Media Service, the operation was launched late Friday evening after reports of fighter presence in the high-altitude Dudu-Basantgarh belt of Udhampur district. An Indian Army soldier was killed during the initial exchange of fire on the first night of the operation.

Fresh reinforcements, drones, and sniffer dogs have been pressed into service since early morning today. Despite continued searches in the dense forest stretching towards Bhaderwah in Doda, no fresh contact has been established with the fighters till this afternoon.

Senior Indian Army and police officials remain stationed at the site to monitor the operation, which has caused panic and disruption in nearby villages. Locals said movement has been heavily restricted and residents fear escalation as the searches intensify.

The operation is likely to continue until Indian forces claim to have cleared the area.

Meanwhile, Indian forces have also launched a search operation in Kishtwar district today. The army has said that it launched the operation based on intelligence inputs about the presence of militants in the area.

The army also claimed that there was an exchange of fire between the personnel engaged in the operation and the armed men.

The operation was ongoing till last reports came in.
